Boone wakes on the narrow studio cot. The smell of turpentine and oil paint, worn wood and canvas. The ozone and heat from some kind of photograph scanner. The cot is uncomfortable, but Boone doesn’t notice until he wakes. The gloomy room, some light through the windows from the streetlights outside, a warm glow from under the door. The aroma of garlic cooking and onion. Wonders at the time.
