The list so far

This year I made a new year’s resolution I knew I’d never complete: read 52 books.  I knew I’d never complete it because I’m a slow reader, have a family, job, and am trying to write a novel of my own.  Still, I figured it would keep me reading, and it has:

On the Line by Eric Ripert and Christine Muhlke
Empire Falls by Richard Russo
Culture Jam by Kalle Lasn
Falling Man by Don Delillo
The Four Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon
Serena by Ron Rash
Down in the Flood by Luke Whisnant
No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy
An Ornithologist’s Guide to Life by Ann Hood

The only disappointment so far was Empire Falls.  Not a bad book, I suppose, just not my kind of book.  And if you live in America and haven’t already done so, you really should read The Great Gatsby.  There is no finer piece of literature more distinctly American than Gatsby.  I read it once every year.
